In order to get more accurate results, our search has the following Google-Type search functionality:
If you use '+' in front of a word, then that word will be present in the search results.
ex: Harry +Potter will return results with the word 'Potter'.
If you use '-' in front of a word, then that word will be absent in the search results.
ex: Harry -Potter will return results without the word 'Potter'.
If you use 'AND' between two words, then both of those words will be present in the search results.
ex: Harry AND Potter will return results with both 'Harry' and 'Potter'.
If you use 'OR' between two words, then bth of those words may or may not be present in the search results.
ex: Harry OR Potter will return results with just 'Harry', results with just 'Potter' and results with both 'Harry' and 'Potter'.
If you use 'NOT' before a word, then that word will be absent in the search results.
ex: Harry NOT Potter will return results without the word 'Potter'.
Placing '""' around words will perform a phrase search. The search results will contain those words in that order.
ex: "Harry Potter" will return any results with 'Harry Potter' in them, but not 'Potter Harry'.
Using '*' in a word will perform a wildcard search. The '*' signifies any number of characters. Searches can not start with a wildcard.
ex: Pot*er will return results with words starting with 'Pot' and ending in 'er'. In this case, 'Potter' will be a match.

Chefs Eat Canberra is both a cookbook and a food guide to the best dishes that the best chefs like to eat in Canberra. We asked the chefs, what do they love to eat on their nights off and their nights out? This book pays homage to the top dishes in town, as nominated by Canberra’s top chefs and restaurateurs. The recipes are included so that you can recreate the best of the best, at home.
Written by retired restaurateur and current Canberra Times restaurant reviewer, Chris Hansen, the book features the history of Canberra restaurants, as well as the beautiful photography of Ashley St George and hundreds of tips, recommendations and unique insights from the industry itself.
Described by Her Canberra as a ‘310 page foodie bible… the book provides something for everyone, from 30 profiles of our band of celebrated chefs, the hatted ones, the viral ones, the mould-breaking ones as well as a beautifully crafted history of who came before – the pioneers, rule-breakers, and families who helped feed our fledgling capital and provided the inspiration for it to grow’.
Chris Hansen’s diverse background in restaurant management, entrepreneurship, consulting, and food journalism positions him as the ideal candidate to compile a book on Canberra's culinary scene. With his extensive experience, he possesses the unique ability to reminisce about the restaurants of the past while also supporting and highlighting the newer establishments, people and signature dishes that contribute to the city's evolving gastronomic landscape. His hospitality skills provide him with insights into the operational aspects of restaurants, enabling him to understand the challenges and successes that shape each dining establishment. As a restaurateur himself, Chris intimately understands the intricacies of running a successful restaurant.
Chris's more recent work as a food journalist adds another layer of depth to his expertise. His ability to critically evaluate culinary experiences, articulate flavours, and convey the essence of dining through words makes him adept at capturing the essence of Canberra's dining culture in a compelling narrative.
In every dish, in every restaurant, there lies a piece of Canberra's history. As we look to the future, let us continue to celebrate our diverse culinary heritage and embrace the journey that lies ahead and the memories that are created along the way.
