Stella's love life is simple, if you keep it casual, you keep it safe. Relationships only lead to heartbreak, and she's had enough of that. She never saw a reason for this to change. But when her best friend raises her concerns about Stella's choices, she's left rethinking everything.

Luke's family never lets him forget that he is everything his parents wished he wasn't: tattooed, aspirations of bartending, no care for the perfect plan his parents laid out for him. But when they make it clear he needs to bring a respectable date to his family reunion to announce his brother's engagement, he doesn't know what to do.

Until Stella agrees to play along.

Fake date to keep Stella's friends unstressed and to keep Luke's family off his back. Then walk away unscathed. But as fake touches turn to real glances, both Stella and Luke are forced to face reality, whether they want to or not.

Falling in love was never part of the plan, and now they must decide if love is worth the risk, or if they're better off playing it safe.
